Miceli named Volunteer of the Quarter at Thomas Hospital

Posted

After logging more than 500 hours in the surgery waiting area over the past three years, Amy Miceli has been named Thomas Hospital's Volunteer of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2025.

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Miceli and her husband Tony relocated to Fairhope four years ago in search of warmer weather and a beachside lifestyle. Married for 26 years, the couple has three children. Their two oldest are in or recently out of college, while their youngest attends Baldwin Prep.

Miceli began volunteering at Thomas Hospital to meet new people after moving to the area. Encouraged by neighbor and friend Kathy Bevel, she soon found her calling helping families in the surgery waiting area. The two now serve as regular shift partners.

"Amy feels the rewards she receives from volunteering far outweigh what she gives," hospital officials said.

Fellow volunteers describe her as cheerful, compassionate and dependable. She's known for arriving early, staying late and filling in for others when needed.

In addition to her volunteer work and raising her family, Miceli has worked in medical billing. She enjoys reading, baking, cooking, swimming and traveling with her family.

Nominations for the Thomas Hospital Volunteer of the Quarter are submitted by members of the Auxiliary. Forms are available in the Thomas Hospital Auxiliary office and at the information desk at Thomas Medical Center in Daphne.
