Mary Ruth Frego (Maw, Sugar Pie), age 85, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Mary Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born in Fairhope and married her high school sweetheart, Sonny, whom she has known since the age of 9. She loved working in her yard, helping on the family farm, playing tennis, traveling, and camping with her grandchildren. In her later years, she loved watching her grandsons, and then her great-grandsons play baseball. She was primarily a homemaker, but also worked for 30 years at B&B Pecan during the holiday season. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church.
Mary Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Sonny Frego; son, Artie (Kim) Frego of Fairhope; daughters, Kelly (Val Keith) Frego of Fairhope, Kim (Tony) Robison of Fairhope; sisters, Margaret (Pat) Jacobssen of Spanish Fort, Dorothy Logan of Fairhope; 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony, Mary Leanne, Caleb, Ariel, Alex, Luke; 7 great-children; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family was held Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope Chapel. The Rosary was recited at 6:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, September 16, 2022, at 10:00 am at Belforest Catholic Cemetery, Daphne, Alabama.
