Margaritaville Resort Orange Beach coming to The Wharf Landing

Replacing former Bama Bayou, will feature hundreds of units, entertainment, dining, more

ORANGE BEACH — Plans for the construction of a full-service Margaritaville Resort on The Wharf Landing, previously known as Bama Bayou, were announced at The Wharf on Aug. 1.

“A few years from now, this is going to be the most beautiful thing on the northern Gulf Coast,” said Art Favre, owner of The Wharf.

Construction on the 70-acre property is projected to start in 90-120 days with completion of the first phase expected in the spring of 2027. The full resort is expected to be complete by 2029.

The property will contain 300-350 units with sales opening in 2025 and including single-family resort cottages, luxury waterfront condominiums and hotel-style resort units. The amenity district of the resort, the Waterfront District, is going to have more than five water-based activities, such as a lazy river, pools, kid play structures and a swim-up bar as well as resort retail, group meeting space and transient boat parking. Guests will be able to ferry to The Wharf.

“We’ve designed what we believe to be the new version of a state-of-the-art resort,” said Jason Alley, with Premier Wharf Management.

Alley also said the new resort will have live entertainment and restaurants “all in the Margaritaville lifestyle.” The creative design team has worked hard to put together renderings and depictions of what is coming to Orange Beach.

“It’s not going to compete with The Wharf, it’s just going to help accent all the positives of The Wharf,” Favre said. “It’s going to create a lot more opportunities for people to come stay longer, relax, enjoy themselves and really take in the great sights, sounds and beauty of the northern Gulf Coast.”
