BAY MINETTE – A man who came to a Bay Minette address Saturday night claiming to be a Baldwin County investigator has been charged with impersonating a police officer, according to a Bay Minette Police Deparmtent statement

David Sequoyah Starke, 44, of Bay Minette, was taken to the Baldwin County Corrections Center where he was released on $5,000 bond Sunday, according to jail records.

Bay Minette police were called to an address on West Mango Street at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, according to a Police Department statement. A caller said a man had come to the home and identified himself as a Baldwin County investigator. The caller said the man could not provide identification.

When officers arrived at the address, they found Starke, who had a badge and law enforcement equipment, according to the statement. The defendant told the police that he was there to investigate a complaint about the exploitation of children.

Starke is not affiliated with any law enforcement agency and was arrested on a charge of impersonating a police officer, the statement said.
