Major Crimes Unit investigating officer-involved shooting

PERDIDO — The Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit is investigation a shooting involving a Bay Minette man and Baldwin County Sheriff’s deputies in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Jan. 19 in the Perdido community of North Baldwin County.

According to a release issued Wednesday by BCMCU Commander Lt. Andre Reid, BCSO patrol deputies spotted a man walking in the area of County Road 47 and McCoy Road, whom they identified as Ronald W. Flowers II of Bay Minette.

While relaying Flowers’ information to dispatch, deputies say Flowers produced a gun and fired at least one round at one of the deputies. Both deputies returned fire and Flowers was pronounced dead on the scene. The deputies were not injured during the incident.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office requested that in independent review of this incident be conducted, according to the release.
