Dollie Estelle Collier Burnett Lowery, born Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927 in Silverhill, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham.
She lived for over 40 years in the community of Tyler, about 13 miles east of Selma on U.S. Highway 80. She attended the Sisters Springs Baptist Church in Tyler most of this time and this church and its activities was a large part of her life.
She had many friends in Baldwin County and many of her schoolmates still survive, since she graduated from Robertsdale High School in about 1945, the year she married Belton Burnett of Foley.
In Tyler, her Christian deeds and services were legendary.
Survivors include her loving husband, J.C. Lowery, of Tyler; two sons, Bobby Burnett of Lillian and Kenneth Burnett of Selma; two daughters, Gloria Dennington of Prattville and Patricia Diane Crisman of Fort Payne; two brothers, Otest Collier of Lillian and Dwight Collier of Loxley; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, four stepchildren, six step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Sisters Springs Baptist Church off Dallas County Road 7 in Tyler, followed by funeral services at the Church and at graveside. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery.
