Longtime Fairhope doctor retires, new physician joins Bay Medical

Posted

After 35 years of serving Baldwin County, Dr. Lynn Yonge is retiring from Bay Medical Family Practice.

Dr. Mitchell Hudson has joined Bay Medical to take over the care of Yonge’s patients, alongside doctors Randall Hall and T. Harvey McCulloch and nurse practitioner Kate Ferguson.

Bay Medical Family Practice, founded in 1940 by Dr. H.C. Jordan as The Jordan Clinic, was the site of Fairhope’s first hospital until Thomas Hospital opened in 1960. The original clinic was located near the corner of Section Street and Magnolia Avenue. Over the years, the practice has relocated several times and was renamed Bay Medical in the early 1970s.

Yonge joined doctors Ferdinand Dietz, Tom Yancy and Billy Davis in 1998, and the practice moved to its current location on Section Street in 2002.

A Mississippi native, Hudson graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2014 and completed his internal medicine residency at LSU Shreveport in 2017. He is board-certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine. Hudson will continue Bay Medical’s tradition as an independent, physician-owned practice.
