A host of local boys’ soccer players were honored by the Alabama High School Soccer Coaches Association with all-state recognition for their efforts in the 2022 season.

Eight local boys’ soccer players named to Super All-State team

Soccer Coaches Association recognizes Baldwin County athletes' efforts on the pitch

A host of local boys’ soccer players were honored by the Alabama High School Soccer Coaches Association with all-state recognition for their efforts in the 2022 season.

Eight athletes landed on the Super All-State team that featured the best players regardless of classification. In addition, locals were also on the all-state team specific to the team’s classification. 

The 1-3A state champion Bayside Academy Admirals had six representatives and the coach of the year and Robertsdale had three and Gulf Shores had one on a team in Class 6A. In Class 7A, Fairhope had one athlete honored and the state champion Daphne Trojans had six land on teams as well as had the coach of the year.

The Super All-State first-team featured Bayside Academy’s Joey Jones and Ty Ferguson as well as Daphne’s Henry McMurphy and Noah Miller. McMurphy and Ferguson were also their respective state tournament MVP thanks to game-winning goals in the finals. On the second-team were Luke Ferguson and Blai Cebrian from Bayside Academy as well as Gulf Shores’ AJ Davis and Fairhope’s Matthew Stroud.

All of those athletes were also on the all-state teams specific to their team’s classification.

The Class 1-3A all-state first-team included Bayside Academy’s Zach Smart, Hoke Fellers, Jones, Cebrian and both Luke and Ty Ferguson. Admirals Head Coach Jamie Ferguson was also named the Private School Coach of the Year.

In Class 6A, Davis from Gulf Shores was part of the first-team all-state. From Robertsdale, Miguel Romero was on the second-team and Kevin Zavala and Hayden Harville were both honorable mentions.

Daphne’s McMurphy and Miller were both named to the Class 7A all-state first-team and Kipper Miller, Morgan Rielly and Beck Risser were recognized with all-state second-team honors. Alex Potier was also an all-state honorable mention and Trojans Head Coach Heath Burt was tabbed the coach of the year.

Stroud from Fairhope also joined the 7A first-team.
