Twenty-two athletes represented Baldwin County from Gulf Shores, Daphne, Bayshore Christian, Fairhope, Foley, Baldwin County High, Bayside Academy and Robertsdale.

Invited prospects from the Classes of 2023-2027 went through an extended pro-style workout where performances were statistically tracked by technology that showed their running speed, throwing numbers and batting metrics, among others.

On the mound, according to the Trackman Files, Bayside Academy’s Carson Joyner registered the top maximum fastball speed at 89.2 mph and Daphne’s Parker Lomax recorded the third-fastest at 85.1 mph. In terms of average horizontal movement on their fastball, Lomax registered the fifth-most at 14.6 inches behind Foley’s Austin Heiden at 15.9 inches for second place and Daphne’s Jack Blanchard at 16.7 inches.

Lomax took the No. 2 spot in both average slider spin rate (2,276 rpm) and average curveball spin rate (2,432 rpm) and Daphne’s Timothy Fitzhugh finished fifth with an average slider spin rate of 2,276 rpm. Joyner’s changeup registered an average of 15.9 inches of horizontal movement for first place, Blanchard’s 14.9 inches was third and Heiden’s 13.3 inches was fourth.

At the plate, Joyner’s peak exit velocity of 94.2 mph was only nearly the event best over Rock Gearhart from Fairhope (94.1 mph). Baldwin County High’s Myles Davis (90.8 mph) finished seventh sandwiched by Brooks Jones (91.2 mph) and Jack Malone (90.1 mph) from Bayshore Christian.

On the Blast Motion Board, Davis recorded the event’s fastest hand speed at 24.8 mph. He was followed by Malone and Joyner (23.3 mph) who tied for third, Bayshore’s Jace Jones (23.1 mph) in fourth and Gulf Shores’ Dominic Maldet (22.9 mph) in fifth. Davis’ average bat speed of 71.7 mph was third, Joyner registered fourth with 70.9 mph and Gearhart finished sixth at 70.2 mph.

On the basepaths, Jace Jones’ 60-yard dash time of 7.08 seconds was third best at the event. In throwing from the outfield, Gulf Shores’ Jackson Beck and Robertsdale’s Andrew McDaniel tied for fourth at 79 mph and Gulf Shores’ Spencer Holmes tied with Foley’s Heiden in fifth place at 78 mph.

From behind the plate, Foley’s Payton Raulerson set event-bests in pop time (1.97-2.13 seconds) and catcher velocity (77 mph) where Maldet was second in pop time (2.00-2.15 seconds) and third in catcher velocity (72 mph). Malone took second in catcher velocity (73 mph) and sixth in pop time (2.19-2.28 seconds) and Davis was third in pop time (2.09-2.16 seconds) and fourth in catcher velocity (71 mph).

Overall, the prospects were also given an EDGE score that provides a comprehensive score out of 100 after all skills were taken into account.
