Living Shoreline Workshop to offer property owners erosion solutions

Posted

Property owners seeking ways to combat shoreline erosion can learn about effective solutions during the Living Shoreline Workshop on Monday, April 14, from 5-7 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Activity Center, located at 260 Clubhouse Drive.

Hosted by the Mississippi State University and Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant living shorelines team, the free workshop will introduce attendees to living shoreline techniques designed to reduce erosion while preserving natural habitats. Participants will also learn about technical assistance and cost-share opportunities available for property owners.

The event will begin with a presentation on living shoreline benefits, followed by individual consultations where attendees can receive personalized guidance. Through the program, property owners are eligible for free shoreline assessments, living shoreline design plans and permitting assistance.

Food will be served around 5:30 p.m., and registration is open through April 1 at www.masgc.org/events/2025-living-shoreline-workshop-gulf-shores-little-lagoon.

For more information, those interested can contact Sara Martin, wetland specialist with Mississippi State University, at (228) 546-1016 or sem729@msstate.edu.
