Members of the Robertsdale Garden Club were treated to several designs that followed the"3-5-8 Rule of Floral Combinations."
Linda Ennis, a Baldwin County Master Gardener, designed many floral arrangements with three types of main local flowers (from a grocery store), five stems of greenery (from a garden greenery) and eight stems of filler flowers (from a grocery store). She demonstrated how to play with heights of flowers and greenery. Her use of seasonal bare branches and twigs highlighted her floral arrangements. Hilda O'Clair presented a Croton plant to Ennis to thank her for the program.
Following Ennis' demonstration was the general meeting of the club. Following the reading of the minutes and treasurer's report, it was reported that the club cleared $125 from the Honey Bee Festival after paying $75 for the spot. Mary Ann Lindsay suggested thank you notes to those who contributed paintings and the tent. Madeline Fernandes was the winner of the about-to-bloom Christmas cactus. Mary Frances Boykin circulated a sheet regarding contributions to the Christmas party in December.
The next meeting will be Jan. 14, 2025, and Charlotte Hamm will present a program on Azaleas. The meeting will be held at the G.P. Thames Senior Activity Center, 22651 E. Chicago St., Robertsdale, at 10 a.m. The club welcomes visits from community members.
