Kind Cafe, in Fairhope, was one of dozens of businesses to receive a grant in the First Horizon Back to Business Contest designed to celebrate resilient businesses in the communities the bank serves. The bank awarded $1 million dollars to 57 small businesses across six states.
"Strong businesses are the cornerstone of strong communities, and championing those businesses is at the heart of everything we do," said South Alabama Market President, Ken Brown. "First Horizon provides capital and counsel to local businesses and we look forward to working with these exceptional companies and supporting the Mobile and Eastern Shore communities."
Small business winners of the contest in the Mobile area include:
"We look forward to our First Horizon associates continuing long-term client relationships throughout south Alabama," Brown said.
Businesses submitted a short description highlighting how they would use the money, along with a photo or video. The contest received 2,300 entries, ranging from a wide variety of businesses and services, including boutiques, trucking companies and local restaurants. First Horizon selected 50 businesses in each region as finalists in each of the contest communities and opened voting to the public.
