It's the season of splash pads, scavenger hunts and storytimes, and this week's lineup of activities across Baldwin County is full of ways to keep young ones engaged. From arts and crafts to movie nights to bookstore adventures, there's something for every energy level.

Better yet, many events are free or low-cost, making them easy on your summer budget.

DOTTIE J'S SUMMER READING PROGRAM

What: Dorothy June Booksellers will host Dottie J's Summer Reading Program every Friday morning. Children ages 7 and under can join Summer Storytime, and the make-your-own bookmark station will be available.

When: Fridays in June and July, 10 a.m.

Where: Dorothy June Booksellers, 107 W. Orange Ave., Suite A, Foley

Price: Free admission

ISLAND MOVIE NIGHT

What: Lillian Recreational Park will host a free movie night featuring "Moana 2." Guests are encouraged to dress in island attire and enjoy hula lessons, a limbo contest with prizes and a fire eater's daring display. Live steel drum music by Colin Beasley will set the mood before the movie. Families can bring blankets and lawn chairs for the outdoor screening. The park's concession stand will offer refreshments and tropical-themed snacks.

When: Friday, June 6, 6 p.m.

KIWANIS KIDS DAY

What: The Foley Kiwanis Foundation will host its first-ever Kiwanis Kids Day in celebration of National Children's Day. The free event, open to the public, will honor the children of Foley and surrounding communities with an afternoon of food, games, music and entertainment. Booths, giveaways and family-friendly activities will fill Max Griffin Park. Attendees can expect free hot dogs, sno-cones, drinks and school supplies while supplies last. A photo booth and live entertainment will add to the festivities. Local organizations will provide resources and information to families. $2 MONDAYS AT THE GULF BOWL

What: The Gulf Bowl will offer $2 bowling games and $2 shoe rentals every Monday. First come, first served. No reservations. Visit the Gulf Bowl's Facebook page for details and other summer specials.

When: Monday, June 9, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Where: The Gulf Bowl, 2881 S. Juniper St., Foley

Price: $2 per game per person and $2 shoes

ART AL FRESCO: BEACHY BIRDHOUSE

What: Tacky Jacks Grill & Tavern will host an "Art al Fresco" class where guests can create a Beachy Birdhouse. The class will be led by local and regional artists and includes a $10 gift card. LUAU PARTY AT OWA

What: Downtown OWA will host a Luau Party featuring live island music, hula dancing, tropical crafts and themed activities for all ages. Festivities include crafts at the Downtown Fountain, live entertainment at the Splashpad, luau activities at the Native Treasures Alcove, a tropical photo op at the Sweet Tooth Alcove and lawn games throughout Downtown OWA. PEPSI SUMMER ADVENTURE

What: The Wharf will host the Pepsi Summer Adventure Quest every Wednesday. Scouts and families can pick up an adventure map at the Pepsi Outpost and begin a scavenger hunt through The Wharf. After completing the challenges, participants can claim their prize at Base Camp. DJ Matt will play music, and the SPECTRA Laser Light Experience will entertain guests throughout the evening. For the first 500 children to complete the hunt, The Wharf's Anchor Campaign will donate $5 to the Alabama Credit Union's Secret Meals for Hungry Children program.

When: Wednesday, June 11, 6-9 p.m.

Where: Portside on Main at The Wharf, 4751 Main St., Orange Beach

Price: Free admission and parking
