Searching for ways to make the most of summer?

Baldwin County is brimming with family-friendly events that entertain, educate and inspire. From hands-on crafts and interactive animal shows to arcade specials and open play sessions, there's no shortage of ways to fill the long, sunny days with fun. Whatever your family's interests, there's an activity to match — and a chance to make summer memories that last.

Better of all, many events are free or low-cost, making them easy on your summer budget.

ANIMAL TALES

What: The Orange Beach Public Library will host Animal Tales, an all-ages live animal show. Guests can learn about incredible and colorful creatures at this fun and educational program.

When: Thursday, June 26, 2 p.m.

Where: Orange Beach Recreation Center, 4849 Wilson Road, Orange Beach

Price: Free admission

AFTERNOON ART CAMP AND 4TH OF JULY DOOR HANGERS

What: The Spanish Fort Public Library will host an afternoon art camp and a special workshop to help participants create personalized Fourth of July door hangers. The art camp offers children a chance to create their own masterpieces in a fun and friendly environment. The door hanger workshop, led by Charmaine Askew of Daylight Tees & More, is best suited for ages 10 and older. All supplies are provided, and space is limited to 12 participants.

When: Thursday, June 26, 2-4 p.m.

Where: Spanish Fort Public Library, 7361 Spanish Fort Blvd.

Price: Free admission

LUAU PARTY AT OWA

What: Downtown OWA will host a luau party featuring live island music, hula dancing, tropical crafts and themed activities for all ages. Attractions include crafts at the Downtown Fountain, entertainment at the Splashpad, luau activities at the Native Treasures Alcove, a tropical photo op at the Sweet Tooth Alcove and lawn games throughout Downtown OWA. WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS

What: The Gulf Bowl offers half off arcade play every Wednesday in June and July. The discount is automatically applied to all Green Card Readers. Guests can load their play cards, collect e-tickets and win prizes. The special is ideal for families, friends and arcade lovers. For more information, visit www.gulfbowl.com.

When: Wednesday, July 2, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Where: The Gulf Bowl, 2881 S. Juniper St., Foley

TOT OPEN PLAY

What: Bay City Gymnastics Academy will host an open play session for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Activities include gross motor play, sensory stimulation and opportunities for social interaction. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call (251) 621-2112.

When: Tuesday, July 2, 1-2 p.m., and Wednesday, June 25, 10-11 a.m.

Where: Bay City Gymnastics Academy, 8534 Well Road, Daphne

Price: $10 for one child; $15 for two or three siblings; $5 for each additional sibling after three. Cash only

KIDS OPEN PLAY

What: Bay City Gymnastics Academy will host an open play session for children ages 6-15. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call (251) 621-2112.
