Jessi Dade, an eighth-grade student at Elberta Middle School, has been crowned this year's winner of the Baldwin County Spelling Bee. This is Dade's third spelling bee win, as she walked away with the trophy at the 2019 and 2020 competitions as well. Daphne Middle School student Ginny Sulkosky took second place in this year's virtual competition. Dade's win qualifies her to compete at the state level, scheduled for March 26. The state championship is sponsored by the Alabama Kiwanis Foundation. The winner of the state competition will earn the right to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, scheduled for June 1-2. The national-level competition is administered by The E.W. Scripps Company from its headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, on a not-for-profit basis.
