Gulf Shores International Airport has announced the appointment of Jesse Fosnaugh, A.A.E., ACE, as its new airport director, a pivotal leadership change as the facility transitions from a general aviation airport to a commercial service hub.

Fosnaugh, with over 18 years of airport management experience, will be at the forefront of this transformation, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success in airport development across the country according to a news release.

Fosnaugh’s expertise includes managing the growth of commercial airports and navigating complex Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. He has been credited with building a commercial service airport from the ground up in Missouri and securing key grants and contracts that fueled business expansion. His appointment is expected to play a crucial role in shaping Gulf Shores International’s future as a commercial airport.

"Jesse's extensive experience in airport management, particularly his success in growing commercial service airports, aligns perfectly with our vision for Gulf Shores International Airport," Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft said in the release. "His strong leadership skills, combined with his commitment to building strong relationships with stakeholders, will be invaluable as we navigate this exciting new chapter."

Throughout his career, Fosnaugh has demonstrated a deep commitment to the aviation industry, serving in both executive roles and as an educator. He has been an adjunct professor of aviation, helping to prepare future airport professionals, and has led educational tours to inspire the next generation. His passion for aviation dates back to his early flying lessons, which he began before he was legally old enough to drive.

Fosnaugh expressed his enthusiasm about joining Gulf Shores International Airport, saying, "I am thrilled to join the Gulf Shores International Airport team and contribute to the airport's exciting growth and development plans.

"I look forward to working closely with the Airport Authority, the City of Gulf Shores, and the FAA to make this vision a reality."

Fosnaugh holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science and Administration from Western Michigan University and is set to complete an MBA in Airport Management from the University of Central Missouri in December 2024. In addition to his academic achievements, he is an Accredited Member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and is a licensed private pilot.
