Internship opportunities available at Alabama Coastal Foundation

Do you care about the natural world around you and want to help improve and protect Alabama's coastal environment?

The Alabama Coastal Foundation (ACF) is accepting applications for a spring and summer intern who will support the internal work of the organization and also will interface with people outside the organization to engage them in ACF's work.

The deadline to apply for the spring internship is at noon on Thursday, Jan. 16, and the deadline to apply for the summer internship is Thursday, April 17.

Spring internship job responsibilities
  • Assist the executive director with securing the necessary permits, permissions and developing the route for the 2025 Good Life Bicycle Ride (GLR);
  • Grow and nurture ACF's social media presence;
  • Help recruit volunteers for the GLR and ACF's education programs including Bay Buddy (1st-3rd grades), Water Festivals (4th grade), Coastal Kids Quiz (5th grade), Estuary Corps (6th-8th grades) and Coastal IQ (adult); and
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Summer internship job responsibilities
  • Help increase awareness for Alabama's coastal visitors regarding sea turtles;
  • Grow and nurture ACF's social media presence;
  • Promote ACF's Connect to Your Coast outreach events;
  • Support ACF's Estuary Corps Middle School summer program; and
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Hours and schedule

This is a flexible, unpaid internship with a minimum of 10 hours per week and maximum of 40 on a schedule that is mutually agreed upon prior to service. If an applicant's school has a work-study program or they would like their time counted toward course credit, ACF is willing to complete the necessary forms.
