The Alabama Gulf Coast is home to some great recreational trails and people are noticing. The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail is one of 20 recreational trails nominated for USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards for Best Recreational Trail.

Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail complex is a network that includes 15 miles of trails that meander through six distinct ecosystems of Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Gulf State Park. The trail complex has something for everyone in the family. Go for a leisurely stroll, hike or bring your bike.

The 10 recreational trails that receive the most votes will make the list of finalists. The contest gives voters four weeks to vote for the candidate of their choice at www.10best.com. You can vote once a day for the run of the contest.

"We know our residents and visitors and visiting travel journalists alike love our Backcountry Trail, so let's get busy sharing this news and encouraging people to vote," said Kay Kaghan, Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism public relations manager in an email to Gulf Coast Media.

Voting ends Monday, Feb. 6. The winners will be announced on 10 Best Friday, Feb. 17, at noon EST. To vote, visit www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-recreational-trail/.
