Honor guard pays homage to Baldwin veterans

SPANISH FORT, Alabama -- The recently formed Armed Forces Honor Guard conducted its first military honors ceremony Friday, May 12 for Navy veteran Warner C. Lawson at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort.

Members of AFHG offered a 21-gun salute with T.A.P.S. and a flag presentation ceremony performed by the Navy Honor Guard from Naval Air Station Pensacola.

The Armed Forces Honor Guard is seeking military veterans as members. AFHG was formed to provide full military honors at funerals for our military comrades in Baldwin County.

“We have the capability to perform full military honors and supplement active duty honor guard personnel,” according to a release issued by AFHG.

In addition, the AFHG will be participating at various functions honoring military personnel and promoting patriotism in Baldwin County, including Memorial Day programs Monday, May 29 at the William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette and on the bluff in Fairhope.
