Heritage Junior Women’s Club hosts end of year celebration

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Heritage Junior Women’s Club celebrated grant recipients, scholarship winners, donations, presented the Justice Lyn Stuart Award and Club Woman of the Year and more at its annual Spring Banquet, held at Pearl and Addie’s Cafe in downtown Bay Minette.

Each year, the Heritage Club holds a Chili Cook-off to help raise funds for the North Baldwin Coalition for Excellence in Education, an education foundation which serves schools in the Baldwin County High School feeder pattern.

HJWC presented a $5,000 to NBCEE for its Teacher Grant Program. NBCEE President Kelli Wallace was on hand to accept the contribution and to recognize the Teacher Grant winners.

They included Baldwin County High  - Dan Nichols, $500 - Cyber Tiger Aerial & Photography; Bay Minette Elementary - Jennifer Gee, $500 - Gifted Gadgets & Puzzle Play; BMES - Terry Janes, $500 - Hands-On, Minds-On; BMES - Merlyne Kittrell, $500 - Collaboration Maker Station; Bay Minette Middle - Tracy Brooks, $435 - Novel Study: The Book Thief; Delta Elementary - Lisa Erwin, $160 - Game, Set, Silence!; Perdido School- Danielle Brown, $500 - Monarch Migration; Pine Grove Elementary - Christy Mcallister, $500 - Pawtastic Behavior Incentive; Stapleton Elementary - Lisa Comer, $500 - Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover.

The Heritage Club's Purse Bingo Scholarship Fundraiser afforded the club the opportunity present a total of $1,000 in scholarships to three BCHS students: Blakeley Norris, Caroline Dute and Braedyn Newton.

The club also raised $1,000 through its annual Spring Plant Sale for the Bay Minette Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. These funds are used to entertain, educate and inspire local children every summer.

Additional contributions raised by various fundraisers through the club were awarded to the Area Women Action Group's Miss AWAG Pageant and the North Baldwin Beauty Review Pageant.

Annual Club Awards were given to two very special ladies. The Justice Lyn Stuart Community Service Award was given to Felisha Anderson for her dedication and outstanding service to the North Baldwin community and various clubs and programs. The 2020-2021 Club Woman of the Year was voted on by fellow club members and awarded to Renee Brooks Morrison.

2020-2021 Heritage Club includes officers Elizabeth Byrd, president; Christy Rollin, vice president; Ashley Jones Davis, treasurer; Sara G. Davis, secretary; and members Marlee Bailey, Tucker Clay, Caitlyn Hadley, Brittany Clay, Clair Dorough, Starla Sellers, Renee Morrison, Monica Walker, Hillary Shaw, Brittany Wallace, Brandy Long and Shunterria Caldwell.
