Need a passport but can't make it to the Post Office during regular business hours? According to a news release, the Gulf Shores Post Office might just have a solution.
The Gulf Shores Post Office, located at 2149 W. First Street in Gulf Shores, will host a Passport Fair this Saturday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those interested are encouraged to call (251) 968-2231 to schedule an appointment.
To expedite the process, customers can visit www.usps.com/passport to learn about the application process. Those interested will be able to download and complete an application form (excluding signature) before attending the Passport Fair.
Here's what applicants need to prepare:
For adult Passport Books, the fee is $130 payable to the U.S. State Department, plus a $35 acceptance fee payable to the Postmaster. An adult Passport Card costs $30 with a $35 acceptance fee. Adults seeking both will pay $160 to the U.S. State Department and a $35 acceptance fee to the Postmaster.
Fees for children under 16 are $100 for the Passport Book and a $35 acceptance fee. A child’s Passport Card is $15 with a $35 acceptance fee, while both cost $115 plus a $35 acceptance fee.
For those unable to attend the Passport Fair, alternative passport Post Offices and their customer service hours can be found by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS or visiting www.usps.com. Additional information is available on the U.S. State Department’s website at www.travel.state.gov.
