Gulf Shores named among the best winter fishing spots

Posted

Winter may be the season for cozy blankets and hot cocoa, but for anglers, it's also an opportunity to reel in big catches at some of the best winter fishing destinations.

FishingBooker, the world's largest platform for booking fishing adventures, released its list of the top winter fishing spots for 2025, and Gulf Shores tops the list.

The destinations were selected for their excellent fishing opportunities, diverse fish species and ideal winter conditions.

Why did Gulf Shores make the list?

Gulf Shores is a vibrant coastal destination known for its white sandy beaches, family-friendly atmosphere and abundance of outdoor activities, according to the agency. It also holds unbeatable winter fishing along the 23-mile stretch from Orange Beach to Fort Morgan. Inshore, anglers can enjoy some of the best redfish and speckled trout fishing in the Gulf, with additional chances to catch whiting, pompano, sheepshead, black drum and flounder. Beyond fishing, the area boasts plenty of attractions, like the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge and the historic Fort Morgan, making it a perfect mix of outdoor adventure and cultural exploration during the mild Alabaman winter.
