The City of Gulf Shores will be hosting special recycling days from Sept. 16-30 for residents to recycle electronics, paint and fluorescent lightbulbs.

Gulf Shores does not typically recycle these items but does regularly host recycling periods for them. Recycled items can be brought to the Gulf Shores Recycling Center drop-off at 160 W. 36th Ave.

Electronics, paint and fluorescent lightbulbs will not be accepted through curbside pickup and will need to be brought to the drop-off center.

The next special recycling days will be from Dec. 23 to Jan. 6, 2025, and then a new schedule will be released for 2025 special recycling days on the City of Gulf Shores' official website.

If disposal of paint is necessary outside of a special recycling time, the city's website states that residents can take paint to the Baldwin County Solid Waste Magnolia Landfill at 15093 Landfill Drive in Summerdale.

During this time the Gulf Shores Recycling Center will still be accepting the following for drop-off:
- Styrofoam
- Cardboard
- Plastic
- Plastic bags
- Paper
- Aluminum cans
- Household batteries
- Glass jars and bottles
- Scrap metal
- Tin cans

Items that are accepted for curbside pickup also remain the same at this time and include:
- Aluminum cans
- Cardboard
- Paper products
- Newspapers, magazines and office paper
- Plastic jugs (rinsed)
- Tin cans (rinsed)
Items containing food residue, oil, aerosol, wax or Styrofoam will not be accepted from residential curbside cans.
