“Excessive rain and unfavorable field conditions” changes Dolphins’ first region game to a road battle in Citronelle

Thursday afternoon, Gulf Shores High School announced its region-opening home football game against Citronelle Friday night was switched to an away game due to “excessive rain and unfavorable field conditions.”

Baldwin County has been pelted with rain this week, although still below seasonal averages, and the field at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium will have to wait another week to host its first regular-season contest of 2022. The Faith Academy Rams are scheduled to visit Friday, Sept. 2.

The Dolphins’ first contest within Class 5A Region 1 was among a selection of local games to watch in Week 2, which also includes another 5A-Region 1 matchup between Elberta and Faith Academy.
