Gulf Shores’ Craft Farms Resort included in GolfPass’ top 5 best public courses in Alabama

It’s no secret that some of Alabama’s best golf is played right here in Baldwin County and the latest installment of Golfers’ Choice included four local courses listed in the state’s top 20 best public courses.

Craft Farms Resort in Gulf Shores had two top-five destinations where the Cotton Creek course checked in at No. 5 behind the Cypress Bend course at No. 4. Three more Gulf Shores courses were included in the top 20 with Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club at No. 7, Kiva Dunes at No. 9 and Gulf Shores Golf Club at No. 17.

Across the Bay in Mobile, the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove course took Alabama’s top two spots with Crossings at No. 2 and Falls as the top-ranked course in the state. Heron Lakes also checked in at No. 18.

Powered by GolfPass, the lists were created by recreational golfers who shared around 300,000 reviews through the platform’s tee-time service, GolfNow.

“Relied on by golfers for its user-generated golf course reviews and expert travel content, GolfPass creates the Golfers’ Choice lists starting every January to recognize top courses,” a Feb. 3 release says. “Unlike golf course rankings published by industry insiders who have access to golf courses the public may never have the opportunity to play, the Golfers’ Choice lists are totally consumer driven.”

Alabama’s top 20 was released at the beginning of the week as Golfers’ Choice highlighted the top courses in warm-weather states including Arizona, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Texas.

“Every golfer dreams of teeing it up during the winter months and these are the best courses to do it,” Jason Scott Deegan, Managing Editor of GolfPass, said in the Monday release. “Even golfers who don’t live in these states will want to take stock because, chances are, they’re going to be looking to visit to play someday.”
