Gulf Shores City Schools announced the appointment of Tim Webb as the new principal of Gulf Shores High School, effective July 2025.
Webb will succeed Cindy Veazey, who is retiring after a successful tenure of leadership and service.
Webb currently serves as principal of Gulf Shores Middle School, where he has been instrumental in advancing academic performance, supporting innovative instructional practices and fostering a positive school culture. His leadership helped establish Gulf Shores Middle as a model for collaboration, student engagement and excellence.
With over three decades of experience in education and public service, Webb brings a distinguished record of leadership at every level. His career includes serving as the Tennessee Commissioner of Education, where he helped shape statewide policy and led initiatives to improve student outcomes and teacher effectiveness. He has also served as a local superintendent, principal at multiple school levels and assistant commissioner with the Tennessee Department of Education.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Dr. Webb’s caliber stepping into this critical role,” said Matt Akin, superintendent of Gulf Shores City Schools. “His vision, leadership and commitment to student success align perfectly with the mission of Gulf Shores High School, especially as we prepare to transition into our new state-of-the-art facility.”
Webb holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a master’s in educational leadership from Middle Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s in liberal studies. He is certified in both Alabama and Tennessee as a teacher, administrator and superintendent.
“I am honored and excited to serve as the next principal of Gulf Shores High School,” said Webb. “This school and community are incredibly special, and I look forward to working with students, staff, families and the broader Gulf Shores community to continue building something truly exceptional.”
Superintendent Akin said Webb’s previous role as middle school principal has not been filled yet but the job is posted and interviews have started.
Gulf Shores City Schools asks families to join in welcoming Webb into his new role and in thanking Veazey for her years of dedicated service.
