City leaders and the media will have an opportunity to see the Hangout Music Lab at Gulf Shores High School Nov. 18 during a grand opening celebration. Superintendent Dr. Matt Akin made the announcement Monday.
The Hangout Music Lab was developed through a partnership with The Hangout Hospitality Group and the Dolphin Foundation for Education and Arts.
The Hangout Music Lab will allow students to be trained in the music recording and production industries. The music lab is equipped with the latest music recording and production equipment and software, a recording studio and a full production stage. The Hangout donated $100,000 to the Dolphin Foundation for Education and Arts to fund the creation of the music lab.
“The Gulf Coast provides a plethora of music venues and events and we are excited to provide our students with the opportunity to excel within so many areas in the music industry,” Akin said. “The Hangout has provided the latest equipment and software to make sure our students are prepared. I don’t believe there is a high school anywhere with a facility like ours.”
