ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The George P. Thames Senior Center celebrated its 30th anniversary on Dec. 14 with a Birthday Bash Tailgate Social at the PZK Civic Center.
Sponsored by Alabama Hospice, the group celebrated with fight songs and cheers for the Tide and Tigers, among others.
Joyce Thames, widow of Mayor George Pervy Thames, was on hand to help celebrate the anniversary, which included lunch with hamburgers and hotdogs, scrapbooks and a slide show with memories through the years at the senior center and live entertainment by the Exit 105 band.
December birthdays were also celebrated. They included Heidi Warner, Joan Kressler, Maxine Blankenship, Susan Ypma, John Hancock, Jean Fontaine and Jim Randolph.
