Gingerbread Jam competition in Orange Beach canceled

Posted

The annual Gingerbread Jam, held at the Orange Beach Event Center, has been canceled this year due to low registration numbers.

Jessica Langston, Orange Beach Creative Director and co-creator of the event, made the announcement Nov. 28, days before the event.

"I'm very sorry to report that we must cancel Gingerbread Jam. We've had very poor registration numbers and Dec. 3 is just around the corner. Fingers crossed for the future," Langston's email read.

The Gingerbread Jam is a gingerbread house building and decorating competition. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Expect Excellence Culinary Arts Program. The Expect Excellence Program is an afterschool and summer program offering Orange Beach students classes in culinary arts, sports, performing arts and more.
