From nature to history hike there is something for everyone this weekend, Jan. 28-30

January is coming to a close and there are some interesting things to explore while the weather is cool and the humidity is low. While the weather has been unseasonably frigid this January, we have had a few beautiful clear days and incredible sunsets. Get out and enjoy the fresh air while checking out our favorite events this weekend.

Gulf State Park
Guided Pier Walk
What: Join park naturalists as they guide you on an exclusive tour of the Gulf State Park Pier. Learn about the history and excitement of this resilient landmark.
When: Friday, Jan. 28, 9 – 10 a.m.

Where: Gulf State Park Pier, 20800 East Beach Blvd., Gulf Shores
Price: $2 sightseeing fee per person, $3 per vehicle to park for two hours.

Snake Encounter
What: Visit the Gulf State Park Nature Center to learn all about the area's native snakes. You will learn how to identify the local venomous species and why these creatures are an important part of our environment. Don't forget your camera.
When: Friday, Jan. 28, 2-3 p.m.

Where: Gulf State Park Nature Center, Orange Beach
Price: Free

Cruise to the site of Old Mobile
What: Cruise through the storied waters of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta to explore the original site of the town of Mobile founded in 1702. Dr. Gregory Waselkov, Professor Emeritus at the University of South Alabama and former director of USA's Center for Archaeological Studies will guide the group through the streets of Alabama's first European settlement. This archaeological site is not ordinarily accessible to the public. Come prepared for a short hike with the possibility of getting muddy.
When: Jan. 29, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Where: Cruise departs from Live Oak Landing on Highway 225 near Stockton.

Menopause: The Musical
What: Four woman at a lingerie sale have nothing in common but a black lace bra and memory loss, hot flashes and more. This hilarious musical parody is set to classic tunes from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Catch the final matinee of Menopause: The Musical.
When: The show runs from Jan. 25 through Sunday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m.
Where: OWA Theater, 205-A, North OWA Blvd., Foley
