The variety of weekend events in Baldwin County this week is diverse and might seem strange for newcomers. This weekend marks the arrival of the Interstate Mullet Toss at the Flora-Bama Lounge and Oyster Bar where revelers throw dead mullets across the state line, all in the name of charity. If flying fish aren't your scene, check out the Silverhill Heritage Day Festival or Earth Day Mobile Bay.

Interstate Mullet Toss

What: The Interstate Mullet Toss and Gulf Coast's Greatest Beach Party is a unique event that attracts people from all over who want the chance to throw a dead mullet over the state line of Florida and Alabama. Each year, the Flora-Bama uses the proceeds from the event to contribute over $20,000 to local charities. For more information visit Florabama.com.

When: Friday, April 22 - Sunday April 24. The event kicks off at noon Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

Where: Flora-Bama Lounge and Oyster Bar, 17401 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola

Price: $10 per day for 21 years and older, $15 for 16- to 20-year-olds and free for 15 years and under

Silverhill Heritage Day Festival

What: Visit the small town of Silverhill for the 37th annual Heritage Day Festival and enjoy live music, entertainment, arts and crafts booths and food vendors while celebrating the town's rich history. The event kicks off with opening ceremonies featuring Nikki Childress singing the national anthem and flag raising by the local Boy Scouts followed by a parade.

When: Saturday, April 23 beginning at 8 a.m., opening ceremonies at 9 a.m., parade at 10 a.m.

Where: 15965 Silverhill Avenue, Silverhill

Price: Free

Earth Day Mobile Bay

What: Earth Day Mobile Bay started 32 years ago and is a celebration of the Earth for the people living around the diverse and ecologically rich Mobile Bay. Enjoy a day of live music, Earth friendly exhibitors, raptor trek and environmental film fest.

When: Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Where: Fairhope Pier Park

Price: Free

Mobile Bay Anime Festival

What: Mobile Bay Anime Festival is a one-day event celebrating anime and manga as well as general pop culture and animation. The event will host a diverse list of guests, vendors, artists and fan groups.

When: Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m.

Where: Daphne Civic Center, 2603 U.S. Highway 98, Daphne
