Free healthcare clinic offers lifeline to underserved this weekend in Pensacola

Posted

Access to basic healthcare remains a challenge for millions of Americans, with geographic, economic and cultural barriers leaving many uninsured or underinsured.

Remote Area Medical (RAM), a nonprofit dedicated to breaking down these barriers, is stepping in to provide critical care with a free healthcare clinic this weekend at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds, 6655 Mobile Highway.

The two-day clinic, running Nov. 23-24, will offer dental, vision and general medical services to anyone in need, with no insurance or ID required. Patients can receive dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, X-rays, eye exams, prescription eyeglasses made on-site, women's health exams and general medical checkups — all at no cost.

The clinic's doors open at 6 a.m. both days, with services offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking lot will open no later than midnight Friday night, Nov. 22, and remain open throughout the event. Patients are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot and receive instructions on clinic procedures.

On Sunday, services will operate on a reduced schedule, and patients may need to choose between dental and vision care due to time constraints. General medical care will be available to all attendees.

A CRITICAL MISSION

Founded in 1985, RAM has served more than 940,000 individuals through over 1,400 clinics across the U.S., delivering more than $200 million in free care. The organization's mission is supported by a vast network of volunteers who ensure that underserved communities have access to essential healthcare services.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Patients planning to attend should note that clinic closing times may vary based on daily capacity. In rare cases, factors like inclement weather or volunteer shortages could affect operations. Those seeking dental services are particularly encouraged to arrive early to ensure they receive care.
