For 38 years, the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival has filled Gulf Coast venues with award winning artists and outstanding music.
The annual festival runs Nov. 3 -12 throughout 22 venues from Pensacola to Silverhill. The Flora-Bama, the birthplace of the festival, serves as the main venue with daily opportunities to see songwriters up close and personal.
This year's festival is dedicated to Joe Gilchrist, founder of the festival and co-owner of the Flora-Bama, who passed away in May 2022. In the program for this year's festival, the board wrote a touching tribute which in part read:
"For more than 40 years, Joe was a guiding force for the Flora-Bama and for the 38 years of the festival's existence, our inspiration. Joe appreciated the songwriters more than anyone else on earth. He displayed kindness and generosity to everyone he encountered, but especially to those in the music business."
