Frances Pittenger Parks

Frances Pittenger Parks native of Louisville, Kentucky and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama for over 65 years, died on Monday, July 25, 2022.

Frances was born on December 13, 1934, the youngest of six children born to Edgar and Bessie Pittenger. She graduated from Shawnee High School in Louisville, and later completed her education at the University of South Alabama by obtaining a BS degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Special Education (Specific Learning Disabilities). Frances taught for the Baldwin County Board of Education for 25 years. She married R.T. Parks, Jr. in 1953.

She was preceded in death by her, husband, parents, and all five siblings.

She is survived by two sons, R.T. (Tom) Parks, III (Destiny) of Fairhope, and Keith D. Parks (Leigh) of Spanish Fort; five grandchildren, Chandler Mikkelson (Adam) of Orlando, Tommy Parks, Chris Parks, and Stuart Parks all of Pensacola, Florida, and Lauren Gray (Chris) of Milton, Florida; five great grandchildren, Addison, Reid and Ellie Bea Mikkleson of Orlando, Jackson and Brycen Gray of Milton.

Frances has been a member of the teacher’s international honorary society Alpha Delta Kappa, Chi Chapter for 35 years and a member of the Fairhope Christian Church for 65 years where she was an Elder Emeritus. After her retirement from teaching, she volunteered with the Thomas Hospital Auxiliary for more than 20 years.

A Memorial service will be held at the Fairhope Christian Church on Fairwood Blvd. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be after the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Fairhope Christian Church Memorial Fund or the Thomas Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
