What: Gulf Shores marks Independence Day with its annual fireworks spectacular at the Gulf State Park Fishing and Education Pier. The show blasts off at 9 p.m., lighting up the skies over the pier and nearby beaches. The city recommends parking at the pier, Lake Shelby or the State Park Beach Pavilion for the best view.

What: Flora-Bama welcomes families and friends to its All-American Fourth of July party. The festivities kick off with a flag raising by American Legion Post 48 at 10:45 a.m. and include Colonel George's famous fried chicken lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ($12), live music from Jimmy Smith and Blackwater Country and a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The night concludes with a fireworks show at approximately 8:45 p.m.
