Former St. Michael Catholic softball coach indicted for sex with student

Posted

A Daphne man was recently arrested on allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student while he was the head softball coach at St. Michael Catholic School.

Leonard Rizzuto has been indicted by a Baldwin County Grand Jury on charges of a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19, leading to his arrest. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on April 11, and the acts are alleged to have taken place during the 2020-2021 school year.

Some of the alleged acts took place at an off-campus practice facility as well as his private residents in Daphne, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.

Rizzuto was released as the head softball coach after the 2021 season.

No other victims have been identified, according to the sheriff’s office.
