Hundreds of surplus items from the Alabama Forestry Commission are included in a three-day auction next week.
The auction, conducted by J.M. Wood Auction Company Inc., will start Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 8 a.m. with bids taken online or in-person live at the J.M. Wood Auction Facility in Montgomery. The first day of the event will include truck and transportation items from forestry commission offices across the state. On Wednesday, Dec. 6 the auction will begin at 8 a.m. and will feature numerous used Caterpillar, John Deere, and Dressta dozers that have previously been used in wildfire suppression practices. The auction will finish up Thursday, Dec. 7, with surplus fleet pickups and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) all selling to the highest bidder.
“J.M. Wood is excited to offer up this well-kept machinery for auction on behalf of the Alabama Forestry Commission,” Bryant Wood said. “This agency does a tremendous job maintaining one of our state’s most precious assets, which is our forests. We are very honored to conduct this auction on their behalf.”
Among the vehicles and equipment up for auction are a Caterpillar D3C crawler dozer, numerous John Deere 450 and 550 crawler dozers, Ford F150 and F250 pick-up trucks, as well as numerous fire plows and other wildfire suppression implements.
