Foley’s Knight ready to take on Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic

Team Alabama looking for its third straight win to increase overall lead over Team Mississippi

This Saturday, Foley receiver Harrison Knight will take the field for the 36th annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile.

Knight became the 22nd Lion overall named to the all-star game and the first since offensive lineman Clayton McConnell in 2016 according to the Alabama High School Football Historical Society.

The Alabamian squad owns a 24-11 overall lead in the series but Mississippi has won four of the last seven. Alabama is on a two-game win streak with a 19-7 win in 2020 and a 20-0 win last year which has snapped a three-game roll for Mississippi.

Knight is one of the many stars on the Alabama roster which features 16 athletes with pledges to SEC schools with eight more committed to other Power 5 programs. The Foley receiver is one of 11 uncommitted athletes at the time.

He’ll be catching passes from the likes of quarterbacks Christopher Vizzina from Briarwood Christian (Clemson commit) and Earl Woods from Hueytown (Jacksonville State commit).

On the 2022 season, Knight caught 64 passes for 711 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns for an average of 64.6 yards per game according to MaxPreps stats.

For the last two varsity seasons, Knight logged 106 receptions for 1,379 yards and 16 touchdowns as well as 4 carries for 20 rushing yards and a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for 1,497 total all-purpose yards.

The three-star recruit listed at 6’ 2” and 185 pounds holds offers from Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi and Troy.

Knight and members from both squads reported to Mobile Tuesday morning where some Alabamian athletes were fresh off state championship contests just last week.

“Among them are linebacker Peter Woods, defensive end Seth Hampton and offensive lineman Stanton Ramil of Class 7A state champion Thompson,” the AHSAA release said. “The Warriors won their fourth state title in a row with these seniors being the first to play in the Alabama-Mississippi Classic after winning four big-school state championships in all four years of their high school eligibility.

“Also on the Alabama roster are three Auburn players who played Thompson in the finals. Among them are linebacker Klark Cleveland, offensive linemen Avery Ferris and Bradyn Joiner,” it said. “Ramsay’s (Anthony) Miles helped the Rams win the 2022 Class 5A state championship, and Mountain Brook tight end Carter Kelley played for the Spartans in the Class 6A state championship game.”

Next week at the same stadium, the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s North-South All-Star game will feature Knight’s teammates Cameron Schultz and AJ Prim on the roster as well as head coach Deric Scott on the coaching staff.
