Dancers invite community to support fundraising efforts

Many people dream of taking a bite of the Big Apple.

For a group of local dancers, that dream is closer than they think.

The Flip City Dazzlers, a competition dance team based in Foley, are gearing up for an unforgettable opportunity in December: a four-day, three-night trip to New York City. This experience promises to inspire, educate and create lasting memories for the young dancers.

The trip's highlights include attending live performances by the legendary Rockettes, participating in exclusive dance lessons taught by the group's members themselves and enjoying a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic Radio City Music Hall. To top it off, the dancers will gather for celebratory dinners, including an evening at Ellen's Stardust Diner, known for its singing servers and lively atmosphere.

"This trip is an incredible opportunity for our young dancers," said Amanda Wade, coach of the Flip City Dazzlers. "Learning from the Rockettes and experiencing the magic of New York City will be an invaluable experience."

SUPPORT THE DAZZLERS

The team is working to raise funds to cover the costs of travel, accommodations and activities. The Flip City Dazzlers have organized several events in the coming months, providing multiple ways for the community to get involved.

Jan. 25: Performance at the Gumbo Festival, 3 p.m., in front of the gazebo at Foley's Heritage Park

March 1: Participation in Foley's Mardi Gras parade, where the dancers will walk and toss throws

March 1-2: Fundraising booth at the Ballyhoo Festival, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on March 1 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on March 2, featuring children's games and prizes

March 22: Multi-family yard sale at Foley Indoor Flea Market, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sponsorships and donations from individuals and businesses are also welcome.

"We are grateful for any support we can receive," one of the dance moms said. "Sponsoring our team will not only help us financially but also raise awareness for our dance program in the community."
