Foley to celebrate National Children's Day with first annual Kiwanis Kids Day at Max Griffin Park

Posted

The Foley Kiwanis Foundation will host its first-ever Kiwanis Kids Day on Sunday, June 8, from noon to 4 p.m. at Max Griffin Park in celebration of National Children's Day.

The free event, open to the public, will honor the children of Foley and surrounding communities with a vibrant afternoon packed with food, games, music and entertainment. Located at 300 W. Roosevelt Ave., the park will transform into a festive space with booths, giveaways and family-friendly activities designed to delight children of all ages.

Organizers say the event is more than just fun — it's about community support and recognition.

"It is a completely free event for everyone celebrating the children of our community." said George Waller of the Kiwanis Club of Foley and Foley Kiwanis Foundation. "It's going to be a great big festive party."

Attendees can expect free hot dogs, sno-cones, drinks and school supplies while supplies last. A photo booth and live entertainment will add to the atmosphere. Local organizations that provide services and enrichment opportunities for youth will also be on-site, offering resources and information to families.

The Foley Kiwanis Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is currently accepting donations to support the event and ensure that every child leaves with something special.

"Your generous donations will assist us in making this the best Kiwanis Kids Day ever for our community," the organization stated in a public outreach letter.

Founded on the mission of serving the world one child and one community at a time, Kiwanis International has a longstanding legacy of volunteer-driven impact. The Foley chapter continues that tradition by investing in local youth and building partnerships that promote growth and well-being.
