Foley plans neighborhood streetscape meetings to improve downtown streets

Planners and city officials will meet with residents to discuss downtown improvements as part of Foley's effort to beautify streets.

The city is conducting a streetscape study for the downtown area, seeking public input on the design and appearance of several streets.

Residents and business owners are invited to attend one of a series of meetings to share their opinions on their streets and discuss desired changes. The city will hold six focus groups on Tuesday, Aug. 6, and Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Foley Civic Center.

The schedule for the 45-minute meetings is as follows:

Tuesday, Aug. 6

  • West Myrtle Avenue: 3:30-4:15 p.m.
  • West Verbena Avenue: 4:30-5:15 p.m.
  • South Chicago Street (from West Laurel Avenue to Myrtle Street): 5:30-6:15 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 7

  • Alston Street (from Jessamine South to Verbena): 10:30-11:15 a.m.
  • West Jessamine Avenue: 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
  • West Orange Avenue: 12:30-1:15 p.m.

An open house will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, starting at 10:30 a.m. to discuss and share the results of the focus groups.
