A call from a concerned neighbor at an RV community in Foley led to the arrest of a convicted sex offender who police say followed a girl into a public bathroom.
After identifying John Allen Davis, 38, of Foley, as a registered sex offender on scene on March 26, Baldwin County Sheriff’s office investigators and Sex Offender Compliance personnel reportedly found Davis had not notified the sheriff’s office that he had moved and didn’t register his new address, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. He was initially arrested on felony warrants for charges related to registration offenses on April 3.
An investigation continued, involving evidence analysis and interviews conducted by the Alabama Department of Human Resources and Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center. Davis was also interviewed while incarcerated on June 5, the release says. Following the interview, Davis was additionally charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a felony. The sheriff’s office says additional sex-related offense charges are pending.
Davis’s previous offenses that required registration were from Kentucky in 2001 for first-degree sodomy involving a child less than 12 and from Baldwin County in 2007 for second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy.
According to an inmate search, he has a $15,000 secured bond.
