Foley Chapter No. 142 Order of the Eastern Star and Foley Masonic Lodge No. 766 will be teaming up with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office S.W.A.T. team to help with the "Stuff the Bearcat" campaign for the second year.
Last year was a success with 67 bicycles being donated to children across Baldwin County. They are aiming for 100 this year.
This program started in 2020 by the sheriff's office after learning there were numerous Baldwin County children who would not have any presents for Christmas without help from good Samaritans. Bicycles are by far the one most requested gifts by children and parents. Local churches have stepped up to help with other presents such as dolls, balls, clothes, toy trucks and other items.
Using one of the sheriff's office emergency response vehicles (the Bearcat), they are once again organizing a campaign to get bicycles into the hands of children across Baldwin County. For more information, contact Sherry Duggan, Worthy Matron of Foley Chapter No. 142 Order of the Eastern Star, at (251) 747-0380.
The bicycles will be turned over to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office SWAT team on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Foley Masonic Lodge, 404 N. Cypress St., Foley.
Members of the SWAT team will be there along with the sheriff's office SWAT Team truck – the Bearcat. There will be food served, and Santa himself will be joining, so bring the kids. This is open to the public, and everyone is invited.
