Foley hosts 2018 Community Preparedness Expo

Posted

On Wednesday, May 2, the City of Foley held a Community Preparedness Expo at the Foley Civic Center. The expo took place prior to the approaching hurricane season in order to help residents new and old learn tips and tricks to being prepared for an emergency. Be it a flood, tornado, hurricane, or even a non-natural disaster such as a downed powerline, the expo is focused on helping people avoid damage both to their selves and their homes when danger strikes. Local merchants and organizations, including insurance companies, home improvement/protection companies, and local law enforcement, set up booths around the center and spoke with visitors and answered questions. Livewire on Wheels was also present at the event, putting on two shows that demonstrated the importance of electrical safety, and what to do and not to do when dealing with electricity. The expo was free to the public.
