FOLEY — Foley High School student Angel Uziel Cruz-Figueroa is the 2022 Foley BBQ & Blues t-shirt design winner. His design will be featured on the shirts sold at the festival this year. Cruz-Figueroa is a junior in Mr. Wilhelm's Visual Arts, second period class.
Members of the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation presented Cruz-Figueroa with his framed artwork, a $50 gift card, and wristbands to attend the festival.
Each year students are encouraged to create a design for the event's official t-shirt. This year, over 60 pieces of art were entered. The top 20 designs will be framed and put on display at the event.
"We are so excited to continue the tradition of the BBQ & Blues Cook Off Art Contest for our local students," said Kylee Raulerson, SBCF executive director. "The artwork just gets better and better, making it hard to only pick one. Featuring the artwork on the t-shirts is a crowd favorite and we typically sell out every year."
The Foley BBQ & Blues Festival is put on by the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation, which supports 13 local schools through programs and partnerships. All proceeds from the festival benefit the foundation.
This year's Foley BBQ & Blues Cook-Off is taking place on Saturday, March 12 in Foley's Heritage Park. Gates open at 11 a.m. when attendants can begin sampling food prepared by a multitude of teams. Admission is $10 per person. Children ages 10 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. For more information, visit foleybbqandblues.net or follow on Facebook @bbqandbluescookoff.
