According to Facebook posts from Foley High School and Foley Police Department, the school was placed on lockdown this morning, Thursday, Sept. 12.

"Foley Police Department, along with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Department, responded. The campus has been secured and all students are safe. Please do not attempt to approach the campus until we have removed the security perimeter. We will provide additional information before noon," the post from the school said.

The police department posted this on Facebook at 11:37 a.m.:

"There are pictures circulating on social media and being distributed that are old photos not from today’s incident at Foley High School. In fact, some that we’ve seen are not even taken on the campus of Foley High School.

"We are currently on campus, along with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. The high school is secure and we are currently working on a reunification plan for you to pick up your student. We should have that information to you within the next 30 minutes.

"Please remember, confirmed information will be sent by us and the Baldwin County Board of Education. Rumors are not helping in this matter and we would appreciate you not participating and furthering the false information that is being spread."

UPDATE

At 11:47 a.m., a Facebook post on the Baldwin County Public Schools account from Jessica Webb, Foley High School Principal, said, "Parents, at noon, we will begin dismissing Foley High School students. We will dismiss car drivers first followed by those students whose parents come to check them out. Students are welcome to remain on campus. They will be kept in the cafeteria and provided an opportunity to study. At the conclusion of school, those students who are bus riders will board their bus and depart for their home destination."

According to the post, for those going to pick up their child, the school asks that paremts come down Cedar Street along the back of the school and follow the security personnel around the south side of the cafeteria. Children will be picked up there and parents will depart out the east front of the school towards Highway 59.
