From triathletes and churchgoers to kids with Easter baskets and beachgoers with a fish to fling, Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar is rolling out a full month of April events on the Gulf Coast.

The festivities begin Saturday, April 12, with the return of the Mullet Man Triathlon. The race kicks off at 7 a.m. behind the Flora-Bama Yacht Club and Ole River Grill with a quarter-mile swim in Ole River. Athletes then hop on their bikes for a 16.5-mile ride starting at the Flora-Bama Liquor Store parking lot. Cyclists head west into Alabama, pass under the Perdido Pass Bridge, then loop back east through Perdido Key before finishing the circuit back at the Liquor Store. Helmets are required, and bikes must be walked through the transition zone.

The final stretch is a 3.9-mile run that begins at the Liquor Store, heads west under the Perdido Pass Bridge, and ends in front of Flora-Bama on the south side of Perdido Key Drive. Finishers are invited to stick around for an awards ceremony with live music by Al & Cathy, along with food and drinks.

The next weekend shifts focus to families, with the annual Bunny Drop and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19. The free event begins at 11 a.m. with live music from Wes Loper and kids’ crafts. At noon, more than 10,000 Easter eggs will be scattered in the sand behind Flora-Bama for children to find. Parents are encouraged to bring baskets. At 12:30 p.m., the Easter Bunny will parachute onto the beach and stick around for photos.

On Sunday, April 20, Flora-Bama hosts its annual Easter Sunday Worship on the Water. Three beachside church services take place behind the lounge, starting with a sunrise gathering at 6 a.m., followed by services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thousands attend each year, taking in the view of the Gulf while celebrating Easter.

The month wraps up with the wildly popular Interstate Mullet Toss and Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach Party, set for April 25-27. Now in its decades-long tradition, the event invites attendees to toss a mullet fish across the state line from Florida into Alabama. A $20 fee to compete includes a T-shirt, and proceeds benefit local charities.

Mullet Toss events include:

• Kids Toss from 10 a.m. to noon each day

• Kids awards at 2 p.m.

• Adult Toss from noon to 4 p.m.

• Owners and Celebrity Toss at 4 p.m.

• Adult awards at 4:30 p.m.

Admission to Flora-Bama starts at 9 a.m. Friday through Sunday and costs $10 per day for those 21 and older, and $15 for ages 16 to 20. Children 15 and under enter free. Admission is 21 and up after 6 p.m. Flora-Bama membership cardholders get access all weekend.

In addition to fish-throwing contests, the weekend features nonstop live music, a bikini contest on Friday and a hot body contest on Saturday.
