Gulf Shores and Orange Beach were recently listed as the No. 2 red snapper fishing spot in the Gulf of Mexico for 2024 by FishingBooker, one of the country's largest platforms for booking fishing trips.
Alabama's red snapper season opened on Friday, May 24, running every Friday through Monday, and there's next to no place better for its enjoyment than the neighboring island cities in Baldwin County. When gauging destinations that offer the most productive bite, easy access and knowledgeable fishing guides for the 2024 season, the only area FishingBooker ranked above Gulf Shores and Orange Beach was Port Arkansas, Texas, while Pensacola, Florida; Venice, Louisiana; Biloxi, Mississippi; Port Lavaca, Texas; Tampa, Florida; and Fort Myers Beach, Florida, rounded out the top eight.
"Known as the main charter fishing hubs in the state, they boast large fleets ready to take anglers out for some of the best red snapper fishing in the Gulf," FishingBooker provided in explanation of its No. 2 ranking. "Orange Beach even holds the title of the 'Red Snapper Capital of the World.' The area features the largest artificial reef system in the U.S., offering an ideal habitat for snapper and other fish. After a successful day of fishing, visitors can enjoy fresh-cooked snapper at local restaurants and explore The Wharf or relax on the beach."
