Salute to First Responders:

Fire departments hold training exercise in Loxley

Posted

LOLXEY, Alabama -- For firefighters and many first responders, proper training can often mean the difference between life and death. Firefighters from four departments in Central Baldwin County got an opportunity to train with a real live fire (actually five of them) on Tuesday, Sept. 18 behind Emerald Homes in Loxley. Since Emerald Homes is actually in Robertsdale’s fire jurisdiction, the Robertsdale Fire Department led the training, along with firefighters from Loxley, Silverhill and Gateswood. Individual fires were set along the row of five repossessed mobile homes, which were deemed unlivable by Emerald Homes, and donated for use by the fire departments for training. Firefighters worked to keep each fire contained, spraying nearby homes and trees while others brought in water for use in the isolated area.
