The last playoff spots in Class 6A Region 1 will be determined in the final week of the regular season this weekend as Spanish Fort is set to hit the road and face St. Paul’s. The winner will earn the second seed and the right to host a first-round playoff game.
McGill-Toolen will visit Bay Minette to battle Baldwin County where the visiting Yellow Jackets will be one of three teams fighting for the fourth and final postseason spot with a 4-3 mark in the group. Theodore and Gulf Shores both enter Week 11 with 3-4 records in region play. If all three teams win, the tiebreaker will be determined by non-region wins where Theodore owns the lead.
The Toros will enter their last regular season game with a 5-2 record in region play against the Saints who will come in 6-1. Spanish Fort won last year’s meeting 35-6 to tie the all-time series at 8-8.
St. Paul’s has allowed the fewest points among Class 6A teams with 73 over 9 games for an average of 8.1 points per game. That mark ranked No. 12 across the state entering the final week of the regular season. Baldwin County has been the only team to score more than 20 points against the Saints when the Tigers fell 24-21 in Week 2.

McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets at Baldwin County Tigers
Although Baldwin County was officially eliminated from playoff contention last week, the Tigers (1-8 overall, 1-6 in region) could add a layer to the final playoff picture with an upset win over McGill-Toolen who will enter 5-4 overall and 4-3 in region. The Yellow Jackets used a 34-23 win in last year’s meeting to take a 17-8 lead in the all-time series.
Baldwin County cracked the win column with a 22-6 win over Murphy in Week 8. Tiger senior Tiaquentin Mims was recently named to the AHSAA North-South All-Star Classic.
Marbury Bulldogs at Elberta Warriors
One Class 5A team will collect the season’s first victory in the teams’ finale as the Marbury Bulldogs will visit Elberta from Class 5A Region 4. The Warriors finished 0-7 in 5A Region 1 and Marbury held an 0-6 record in its region.
